Mathilde is the main character of this story. She is a type of person who is not satisfy in anything she is having. She always wants more, more money, more dress, more jewelry. I understand why Mathilde is like this because for me, this story reflects the inside of everyone. Just like Mathilde does, everyone wants more. As an example, Mme. Forester have a lot of jewelry. The reason why Mme. Forester have so much jewelry is because she wants them like Mathilde does.
In this story, Mathilde lost Mme. Forester's necklace but Mathilde did not tell Mme. Forester that she lost it. I think I can understand why Mathilde is doing this. First of all, the story says that Mme. Forester is Mathilde's best friend. If I lost something my best friend borrowed to me, I will be feeling very embarrassed because I might lost this friend forever if he or she knows about it. Secondly, in the story, Mathilde is this kind of people who think she is born to be wealthy. So, her pride will not allow herself to do anything that will make her image bad.
